Privacy Policy

This policy explains which personal data are processed when you visit sportsciencemadeeasy.info, for what purpose this happens and what rights you have. It fulfils the information obligations under Articles 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In short: this website uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services. There are no tracking pixels, no social media plugins and no external font or map services. Opening a page does not trigger any connection to third-party servers.

1. Controller

No data protection officer has been appointed. The conditions of Article 37 GDPR and Section 38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act are not met, as data processing is neither carried out on a large scale nor as a core activity, and fewer than twenty people are permanently engaged in it.

2. Principles of processing

Personal data are any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person – for instance a name, an e-mail address or an IP address. Such data are processed only where a legal basis under Article 6 GDPR permits it. The following may apply here:

  • Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR – your consent, where you have expressly given it.
  • Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR – steps taken prior to entering into a contract, for example in response to an enquiry from you.
  • Article 6 (1) (c) GDPR – compliance with a legal obligation.
  • Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR – legitimate interest in the technically sound and secure operation of the website.

There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. Personal data are not used for advertising purposes and are not sold.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Strasse 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. The servers are located within the European Union. A data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR is in place with IONOS; IONOS processes the data solely on our instructions and not for its own purposes.

Each time a page is called up, the web server automatically records access data in a log file. The following are recorded:

  • the IP address of the requesting device,
  • the date and time of access,
  • the file or page requested,
  • the volume of data transferred and whether the request was successful,
  • the previously visited page (referrer), where transmitted,
  • details of the browser and operating system.

This processing is technically necessary in order to deliver the website, keep it stable and detect and repel attacks. The legal basis is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in the secure and uninterrupted operation of the service. The log files are not merged with other data sources and are not evaluated for marketing or analytics purposes. Log data are deleted after fourteen days at the latest, unless a specific security incident exceptionally requires them to be kept longer; in that case the entries concerned are retained until the matter has been resolved.

4. Encrypted transmission

The website is delivered exclusively over a TLS-encrypted connection, recognisable by “https://” in the address bar. Data transmitted between your browser and the server therefore cannot be read by third parties.

5. Cookies

A single cookie is set, and it serves language selection only:

This cookie is strictly necessary in order to provide the service you have expressly requested – display in the language you selected. Storage is therefore permitted without consent under Section 25 (2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). The subsequent processing is based on Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. For this reason no consent banner is displayed.

You can delete cookies in your browser settings at any time or prevent them from being stored at all. The website remains usable in that case; the language will simply have to be selected again on each visit. No other techniques for accessing your device – such as local storage, session storage or fingerprinting – are used.

6. Fonts

The typefaces used (Archivo and Source Serif 4) are stored on this website’s own server and loaded from there. No connection to Google Fonts or any other external font service is established when a page is opened, so your IP address is not transmitted to third parties for this purpose.

7. Contacting us

If you write to us by e-mail, your details – sender address, subject, content of the message and any further information you volunteer – are processed for the purpose of dealing with your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries) and, where your message relates to concluding or preparing a contract, Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

Your message is deleted once the matter has been conclusively dealt with and no statutory retention periods apply. Please note that unencrypted e-mail can be read by third parties in transit; for confidential content another channel is advisable.

8. Comments

The comment function is disabled. Articles cannot be commented on and no comment data can be stored. Comments received previously have been deleted in full.

9. Links to external services

This website links to third-party websites, including scientific sources and social media profiles. These are plain text links only. Embedded content, buttons or plugins belonging to those providers are not present. Data are transmitted only once you actively click such a link – from that point onwards the privacy policy of the provider concerned applies, and we have no influence over its content.

10. Recipients and transfers to third countries

Personal data are not passed on to third parties, except to the hosting provider named above acting as a processor, or where there is a legal obligation to disclose them. No transfer takes place to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

11. Storage period

Personal data are stored only for as long as is necessary for the relevant purpose or as required by statutory retention obligations. The specific periods are stated in the sections on the individual processing operations. Once the purpose ceases to apply and no retention obligation remains, the data are deleted.

12. Your rights

You have the following rights vis-à-vis the controller:

  • Access (Article 15 GDPR) – you may find out whether and which data concerning you are processed, and request a copy.
  • Rectification (Article 16 GDPR) – inaccurate data must be corrected and incomplete data completed.
  • Erasure (Article 17 GDPR) – you may request deletion of your data unless a retention obligation prevents it.
  • Restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR) – in certain cases data may only be stored and not used further.
  • Data portability (Article 20 GDPR) – you may receive data you have provided in a common format or have them transferred to another controller.
  • Withdrawal of consent (Article 7 (3) GDPR) – you may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing carried out up to that point remains unaffected.

An informal message to info@sportsciencemadeeasy.info is sufficient to exercise these rights. There is no charge to you.

Right to object under Article 21 GDPR

Where data are processed on the basis of legitimate interests under Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. If you object, the data concerned will no longer be processed unless compelling legitimate grounds can be demonstrated which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint under Article 77 GDPR

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR. 13. Whether provision of data is required

You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide personal data. The website can be used without supplying any data at all. Only the technically unavoidable processing of your IP address cannot be dispensed with, since without it no connection between your device and the server can be established.

14. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy will be amended whenever the legal situation or the technology in use changes – for example if a newsletter, a contact form or an analytics service is added in future. The version available here applies to your visit.
